The Adelaide Hills takes remarkable pride for its luscious cherry orchards producing over 20 varieties of cherry each year. Aside from enjoying the healthy benefits from cherries, you will also appreciate the relaxing green vineyard scene. The picking activity may sound less energetic but you will be surprised that walking around and stretching some of your body muscles through picking can also be a form of exercise.

You can choose from a long line-up of cherry orchards that shows how vast the cherry farm in Adelaide is. In fact, the Cherry Growers Association of South Australia created a map to help visitors around the area.

The best time to pick cherries are during December where you can make picking cherries as your Christmas activity although the cherry season runs from November to January. In addition, you can also satisfy your taste buds by trying cherry-filled delicacies as well as raspberry, plum, apricot and apple jams.

Gumeracha is a town that is proud of its history exposing some beautifully restored buildings, including two churches. Together with District History Centre, it holds a collection of photographs and paraphernalia. Gumeracha also has craft and antique shops, two winery cellar doors with restaurants at nearby Chain of Ponds and various accommodation options.

Visitors can climb to survey the leafy Adelaide Hills on Gumeracha’s 18-metre high Giant Rocking Horse, and afterwards wander through the toy factory that features a wealth of charming wooden creations. The place is perfect for romantic weekends away, cozy pub meals, scenic drives and nature walks. Basically, Gumeracha is the home of boutique wineries, country markets, art galleries and charming villages.

You can also visit its National Motor Museum or walk around the local wildlife parks. Adelaide Hills showcases a wonderfully refreshing change from the pace of the city. Overall, Gumeracha is one of Adelaide’s charming and must-visit areas.

When you’re in Hahndorf in Adelaide Hills, you can consider many things to do especially if you’re a tourist who wouldn’t want to waste any time to discover the place’s wonders. For starters, Hahndorf is a famous town in Adelaide hills and is considered to be Australia’s oldest surviving German settlement. And this is quite obvious since the German aura still lingers in that place.

Moreover, try to pick some of the strawberries at Beerenberg or you may visit Sir Han Heysen’s former home and studio which is called The Cedars and check some of the several good winery cellar doors. No one would also want to miss Hahndorf’s most visited area which is the Hahndorf Farm Barn.

The barn is designed for people of all ages to enjoy since it is a nature park and a wildlife preserve at the same time. There is also a children’s farmyard making it an enjoyable stop for families. While at the farm, there are many things you can do such as exploring the whole Nature Park, bottle feed or hand feed baby animals, cuddle pets, watch and meet other tame animals, take pictures with them and many more. There are a lot of great things you can do in Hahndorf so discover the excitement the place holds and bring home with you a fun and memorable experience.

Today we had a great day in the Adelaide Hills at the Gorge Wildlife Park.

The animals that you get to see are quite amazing, and it is a very hands on wildlife park, with the ability to be able to feed Kangaroo’s and Wallabies, as well as many other animals around the place. When you walk in you can purchase some biscuits and some nuts, which many of the animals will eat out of your hands.

It is a great exerience to feed the native animals.

Wandering around the place it is great to get the open air, and there are different animals everywhere you turn. There is also a couple of times per day, that they allow you to hold a Koala and pat it. Such a lovely animal the Koala is.

It is great to hold a Koala at Gorge Wildlife Park

I must say that we go to Gorge Wildlife park at least once per year, and the children never tire of it. It is a great day out for the whole family, and yet another reason for a stay in the Adelaide Hills
